IDAHO WRITER'S CONTEST 2011

I won the second place award for short humor, in the theme (eyes of the beholder) contest and third place in creative non fiction for assigned title "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished". The non fiction story relates to observations of ducks on the pond near my home.

NORWAY DVD

Pine Productions latest creativity is a DVD of our travel to Norway June 2010.
We took the train from Oslo to Burgan and then the Ferry Ship to the top of Norway which included a bus tour to the Russian border. I can duplicate my DVDs so they are available. Making travel DVDs seems to be my latest activity so maybe I will give Rick Stevens some competion!

HOLY LAND SLIDE SHOW

Recently placed 400 pictures from our 2010 trip to the Holy Land on to a DVD. The program includes my 62 minute narration on the Holy Land. I do not have the computer skill to arrange the order of the pictures or to coordinated the narration so the pictures are just back ground to the talk and both are independent. This represents the latest creativity from Pine Productions.

I attended the IWL conference the end of Sept held in Coeur D' Arlene. I was won a third place award for the short humor catagory. Writing continues to be major hobby. Not interested in selling anything but enjoy trading my work for the product of other's hobbies. I maintain a "Labor of Love Museum."

TANDEM RALLY

We participated in the Santana Cycle tandem rally held in the Napa Sonoma wine county. We bought our new Santana tandem in 1984 and are still active riders. After the rally we toured the Redwood Park areas on the way to the Evergreen Tandem Club rally in the Washinton State wine country. We do not have the strength, stamina or courage to keep up with ant of this new generation of riders but we enjoy the social part of the gatherings. We are impressed with today's rider taking the sport to the next level.

NORTH END REUNION

The high light of 2010 travels was are trip to Canada to attend the all class reunion of St. Johns Teck. St Johns was the only high school in the place I grew up "North End" (North of Winnipeg). The event was a four day convention celebrating the history of "North End". In 1985 we got a lot of attention by ridning into town on our loaded tandem. Flying in from around the world was our encore.

Our travel 2010 included a trip on Hurtigruten ferry ship from Bergen to the top of the world including a bus excursion to Russia.

NONTH IN FRANCE

This year's travel included a month in France. We started in Paris with a visit to Versielle and the Pompeno Center. The rest of the time was in La Londe overlooking the Sea. Harvey played petanque with the retired French while Anita planed the regular tours of the local wineries

HOLY LAND

April we tourned the Holy Land. We felt safer in Isreal than most big cities. Our tour included 4 National Parks. The Land is much more functional and peaceful than our expectations. We met Arabs who are Isreali citizens and most want to live in peace.

THE PERFECT RELIGION

March 7, 2010 an abreviated version of my play, "THE PERFECT RELIGION" was read as part of the Gardenia Center Service. The lead role was read by Sue Fiskin. Sue is a talented lady and was worthy of her standing ovation. There has been so much positive feed back that I am inspired to produce my play "HELL FROZE OVER". Although deeling with a simular subject, this play has more of a plot and is designed to be staged, not read. I am looking for 5 people in their 20s interested in acting the roles. (2 male and 3 females). My plan is a show at the Gardenia center and one at the little theater of the Panida. The cost of production would come from a grant from PINE PRODUCTIONS and money from ticket sales to charity (Gardenia Center Programs) Anyone interested in donating their time and efforts to the cause should make contact.

WRITING HOBBY

I continue to enjoy my writing hobby. Entered four stories in the Idaho Writer League 2008 contest and won a third place and two honorable mentions. Our Sandpoint Chapter is creating a "CHAP" book and I have entered my story "New Years Eve" which won the first place award in the 2006 story of the year local contest.

TANDEM RALLY YAKAMA WASHINGTON

We joined the Evergreen Tandem Club in a wine tour of Yakama. A highlight included attending the Mustange car club Convention at the local park. We had the oldest Tandem in the group. We may not be able to keep up on the bike but we are still ahead when it comes to wine consumption!

WORLD POLICE AND FIRE GAMES

We just returned from Vancouver Canada where we participated in the 2009 games. Over 10,000 atheletes from more than 50 Nations. I won a bronze medal in the over 70 years of age competition for horseshoe pitch. Certainly a thrill of a life time.

Although I do not accept money for any of my writing efforts, I do enjoy trading for the products of other people's hobby. These creations are my "labor of love" museum which includes, wood work, knitted items, music, and other books. My novel "Landa" is the most RED book. I have a number of plays on CD for listening. KAYAK

The latest water toy is a kayak. When one lives on the water, boats are part of the dress code. I stay close to shore and ride only in calm water. The Kayak is much faster than our paddle boat.

FRANKIE'S THURSDAY NIGHT

May 19, a group met at my home to read the play on tape. This is a re-do of the play done many years ago. Plans are to make new CDs of this play and then see about directing it as a stage play. The setting is a bar, and I can use the STAGE RIGHT Wine Bar for staging. Anyone interesting in playing a part should make contact. The plot is a take off from the chapter "Frankie" in the novel "Landa"

HELL FROZE OVER

My play "Hell Froze Over" is now on CDs. It is a Romantic Comedy dealing with faith. It does poke fun at traditional religion but intended to be amusing. Hope no one takes any of it seriously.

GOSSIP WORTH REPEATING

I was playing in Horseshoe Pitching tournament. My wife Anita came to the event on her mountain bicycle. She was wearing bright clothing for safety. I over heard two women gossiping not aware I was listening.
"Who is that gal on the bicycle?"
"That is Harvey's wife"
"How does that old man rate a young chick?"
"Don't know. They were together when they came to town."
"I would not want an old man no matter how rich he was."

P.S. That young chick will be 70 next birthday!!!!!!

TANDEM SKI RACK

In 1984, I built a wood rack to carry my tandem. It had no practicle value as I was young enough to raise the tandem over my head and place it on the roof rack of my SUV. Like Howard Hugh's "Spruce Goose" my "Pine Carrier Pigeon" was only a museum piece. In anticipation of tandem rally in the San Juan Islands, I needed a rack to carry the tandem as I no longer have the strength to lift the bicycle. The "Tan Demski" as it was called was revived for my Jeep! It works great. Any one is welcome to copy the design. Pictures are available on request!1

My novel "LANDA" is the most RED book in Sandpoint. It is readily available at most garage sales and the monthly Library bargain book sale. I trade copies for other people's hobby items. My "Labor of Love" museum contains, music, knitted items, woodworks, art and of course other authors books. I have a one of the largest libraries of self published books. The rules are simple. Love Gone Wrong

Main writing project at this time is my play "Love Gone Wrong". The theme is Anti War and treating Gay people with dignity. The play is now on tape and transfered to CD. I am also looking for groups to stage it. I have had some positive reviews but a number of people have a problem with the flash back format. One advantage of a play is that the director can change something he may not be comfortable with. In contrast, a novel can't be changed without makeing a new edition!

HOME FROM NEW ZEALAND

We are home safely from our trip south. We enjoyed Hawii and Autrialia on the way to New Zealand. Our main activity was hiking in the National Parks. We also took three wine tours to enjoy the wine country.

READING MY PLAY TO A TAPE

My main project is having friends read my play "Love Gone Wrong" on to a tape with idea that mulitple CDs can then be made. I will look into the posibility of having it stage later. Theatrical groups are welcome to use plays from Pine Productions free of Royalty fees.
